Philips CD-i longbox releases in the USA are particularly vulnerable as they originally carry a cardboard slipcase which can easily damage over the years if you don't treat them gently. For several other retro gaming platforms, plastic box protectors exist that can save them from this. Now, there are also box protectors specifically aimed at the USA CD-i longbox releases available. Could it be, due to the increasing CD-i interest lately, that creator Buzz & Bingo's Moon Circus feel there is a CD-i market now too? CD-i member Sixersfan105: "Attention Philips CD-i fans: Buzz & Bingo's Moon Circus now carries box protectors that fit the USA longbox releases. Available here. They also sell protectors for the jewel case + slipcover CD-i releases, available here. The former interests me much more, however, from a protection (and collecting) standpoint." CD-i member Blazers assures us this is a good deal for us CD-i collectors:"For those that haven't already seen the new box protectors the price per unit is fair. Their seller is going to be getting a few big orders from me.. Just came up on eBay"
Later CD-i releases which were released in a standard jewelcase also originally carried a cardboard slipcase in the USA, so existing jewelcase box protectors don't fit, but the same guy offers specific CD-i jewelcase box releases, fitted to hold a slipcase too. It is a great way to preserve your CD-i collection.
