Thanks to CD-i members Seventy7 and Blazers, more Japanese CD-i covers are presented here. Most of the early PIMA CD-i releases that were translated into Japanese, often use the same boxart including a Japanese line of text. Some titles change the title into Japanese, sometimes they leave the english title intact and print a Japanese translation in normal text. The inlay of the booklet shows 'Palm Springs Open' in Japanese below the title, but the front cover doesn't even show it.
It is amazing how many Japanese CD-i covers show up lately. Two years back, we only had the 'Gamest' collection and bad quality pictures of 'Golgo 13', 'Cyber Soldier Sharaku' and 'Mah Jong'. The first generation of CD-i games saw a Japanese CD-i release as well, as long as a partner saw the potential in releasing it. We've seen from this interview that it was not PIMA themselves who released it, but licensed the titles to those who wanted to translate it.
