Sport Freaks was a TV show on the dutch television (broadcasted by Veronica) aired in the nineties and presented by Henk Spaan and Harry Vermeegen. Lead by Wilbert Gieske (all three on the cover) they made many sport quiz episodes. In 1996, SPC Vision (The Vision Factory) made a CD-i adaptation, exclusively for release in The Netherlands. Like we have quite a few quiz CD-i titles on CD-i (like the USA exclusive Jeopardy or the Italian Super Test), this one is focused on questions about sports. The nice thing for us is are the references to classic SPC Vision graphics. In another SPC Vision game show adaptation, Lingo on CD-i, there's hardly any resemblence that this was made by the same studio who also produced the lively anime-like and very bright coloured CD-i games The Apprentice, Dimo's Quest, Steel Machine and Lucky Luke! This one however is different: Sport Freaks features the original jackpot system and I recognize lots of SPC like graphics. Now I wonder, when you look at a screen of the original show:
Was this exactly the same jackpot or was it a reimagination of the original TV series? It's hard to tell but at least the logo is also different.
Sport Freaks was released in 1996, only on CD-i.
