CD-i Press Discs and Prototypes - A look at rare CD-i prototypes and even unknown titles

Sometimes an anonymous source drops in and brings a beautiful batch of CD-i prototypes of which several we never saw before. This is what happened with the new set of CD-i discs that were recently added to the online archive at Hidden Palace. Thanks to CD-i member 'Sketch the Cow' the covers were preserved as well in this collection. Let's have a look at them. Sketch the Cow explains: "From an anonymous donor, this collection of disc images were provided to press outlets for use in reviewing CD-I games and titles. As lead time (time between finishing layout and printing) could be as much as 30 or 60 days, developers often would have to send press versions of the games that were not quite ready. These are a selection of those discs."

MPEG Video Sampler Volume 1

Philips Professional CD-i - a World of Opportunities

Power Match - Big Hand Productions

Paramount DV Demo

Creation with MediaMogul (Software to develop on CD-i)

Also a batch of prototypes were added:

Othello by Eaglevision 1.02 - It could be interesting to see what has been changed and tried in this demo version.

This one is interesting as it was pressed even before being sent to the Hasselt Test Centre - Micro Machines v0.01 - It could be the very first try-out of Micro Machines on CD-i (ported from the NES version)

Another interesting piece: We never heard of Monty Python: Karaoke Best Songs on CD-i - It could an unknown title but it could also changed its name along the way. We've had a couple of Monty Python CD-i titles on CD-i, like "Life with Monty Python" and ...

... Monty Python: More Naughty Bits, which was formerly known as Monty Python Sketches as shown above. Great addition to our CD-i catalogue, thanks for sharing.
