This picture was shared by CD-i member Steep Haywire a while ago, and it shows the CD-i game 'International Tennis Open'. On the left there is a green version which we don't see often. The game was originally released in 1992 and back then it was a remarkable high quality effort, especially on CD-i. No other CD-i game came close to the photo quality of these graphics and the responsiveness was actually pretty nice. It was a one-player CD-i title and during the years it became clear that Philips saw more potential in offering two-player action as well. A few previous CD-i efforts actually saw a re-release (around 1994), offering a specific two-player function. For example, this was also done with the CD-i release of Striker Pro. The boxart remained generally the same but in the case of International Tennis Open, the boxart got a yellow tennisball with the text 'Simultaneous 2 player game'. For some reason, Philips Interactive Media of America chose to give the new USA version a green cover instead of the original blue one. It was indeed more clear this was about a different version! In the picture above, when you look closely it appears that the covers are not the same at all: The font is different, the placement of the tennis player and the tennis ball is different (even the player itself is not identical in both boxarts), they actually re-imagined the whole boxart! One quick glance and you think they are identical, but it seems both the USA and European department of Philips Interactive Media did the boxart themselves.
