Let's fix the drive belt of this CD-i 210 (The drive tray is sticking, but reading up on the console, it just needs a new drive belt)

CD-i member Bongo McNulty shows us how to replace the drive belt of your CD-i 210. If your CD tray doesn't open smoothly (but the CD-i player works without a problem if you help it a little with your hand), your CD-i player might need a new drive belt. Fixing this is easier than you might think. Bongo McNulty:"About to try my first CD-i fix. The drive tray is sticking, but reading up on the console, it just needs a new drive belt." Open the case and you'll see how it looks like in the top picture.

I don't need to remove the whole disc drive, just the tray. There's a teeny tiny tab you need to pull aside, and the drawer just slides out.

There's also a drive protector plate that covers the drive belt. Gentle pulling will easily remove it.

Took the front off for better access to the drive belt. It just loops over the two spindles. The new one has a lot less slack when compared to the old one.

From here you can easily replace the drive belt. "How smooth is that? It's just like the ocean under the moon. Smooth as Santana, that's how smooth."

[Thanks, Bongo McNulty]
