At the same time Philips released the Philips CD-i 210 player, LG (Goldstar) planned to release the GDI-11 desktop model, their first component-based CD-i player. They designed a specific dedicated thumbstick for it and as far as we know, this player was never released. According to our source, this player was able to be equipped with the Digital Video Cartridge. The thumbstick looks different from the one that we know LG released with the more portable models. It uses however the same button layout as the other LG thumbstick. Interesting fact is that these Goldstar models (including the portable GP-11 and licensed 450 model) were announced after Goldstar stepped in the 3DO adventure. Online it is believed that Goldstar stepped away from CD-i to focus on the upcoming 3DO, but this seems not the case, it looks like Goldstar was simply betting on both horses.
