The tricks performed by CD-i member Naean Howlett-Foster to create remastered versions of the soundtracks of Hotel Mario and Link: Faces of Evil inspired other CD-i members to do the same to other CD-i soundtracks. One particular soundtrack that was on the wishlist of MoviesMovie1 was Tetris on CD-i. This classic and widely loved soundtrack was originally performed by Jim Andron, who did many other CD-i soundtracks for Philips POV but the Tetris music by far outstands the rest. CD-i member MoviesMovie1 explains: "This is a bit of an unusual upload for me, as I usualy wouldn't upload video game soundtracks or other people's music, but I feel this is something I want to share. "I love the soundtrack to the Philips CD-i version of Tetris, composed by Jim Andron, but sadly the only available versions of the soundtrack are from the game itself, which stores its music as 18.9 kHz XA ADPCM-compressed files, which aren't exactly high quality. The files are also additionally rather heavily low-passed, leading to an even stronger muffling of the sound. What I aimed to do here was take those XA PCM files and readjust the EQ to restore some of that lost high end to give it some more sizzle and life back.

While this method obviously isn't perfect, with audible artifacts caused by the ADPCM compression, it's the best I've been able to manage, and I feel rather satisfied with the end result I've gotten and hope you find it enjoyable as well. I truly hope one day that the original pre-compression music is eventually released, so we can listen to this magnificent soundtrack in as high a quality as possible."

[Thanks, MoviesMovie1]
