Philips had a rather large initiative called 'School 2000' with the aim of introducing interactive learning materials into the classroom. Accompanying this educational approach, Philips organized 'roadshows' together with partners to let more people, especially kids, experience CD-i. For example, in The Netherlands Philips organized together with Movico in
1996 in the dutch city Den Bosch the CD-i Kids Truck, when the Tour the France started in
The Netherlands. Philips asked the company Movico to prepare a mobile
expandable truck that holds two VIP spaces, a podium and several CD-i
kiosk system for people to play on. It was the Giant Expo 1996.
In the UK, Philips teamed up with the junior staff of the "Telegraph" newspaper (named 'Young Telegraph') to drive around primary schools with this top-kids targeted marketing initiative. Inside, School 2000 projects were shows together with kids entertainment titles. Whoever remembers this bus in the UK? (Unfortunately, this bus was only active in UK, but with similar inititiatives in The Netherlands as well, we're sure that more local initiatives were created during the CD-i heydays!
