It might be more unique than what we expected. For a long time, there was not that much known about what happened with CD-i in Japan. Thanks to a few collectors and digging for information by CD-i enthusiasts (like Interactive Dreams) more and more info surfaced about CD-i in Japan. Of course there is the Sony IVO-10 CD-i player, which was available in Japan. One of the first other physical players that surfaced were the CD-i players by Manna Space, which were licensed models of Philips and LG CD-i players, like the CD-i 450 and the Goldstar toploader model. But a true Philips CD-i player in Japan, that was not that trivial. We've seen a Goldstar GDI 750 / GDI 1000 model in 2019, which was the first Japanese CD-i player we came across. Now in 2021, CD-i member Blazers bought a true CD-i 205 player, branded by Philips and marketed by Marantz, a true 100V system, which was available in Japan.
That's unique, and it also gave away some extra bits of information
about the marketing strategy of Philips. The documentation below is
about the new 'Super Home Media' - referring to the variety of formats
that is compatible on CD-i. The font type is exactly the same as the
official CD-i logo in Japan (different of what was used in Europe and
USA) - but matching all CD-i products in Japan nicely. Another
interestign detail is that this player was called 205 (The European
model number) and not 910 (the original USA model number of the same
type of CD-i player). Most CD-i titles in Japan have a 'Philips
Interactive Media of America' logo on it, it looks like there is more
involvement of PIMA with the introduction of CD-i in Japan!)
