The Philips CD-i Mini / Classic is not going to happen, but never say never according to @PhilipsCare

In September 2018, Philips positively replied to a question about the possibility of a CD-i mini. These retro classic mini consoles are a major success. If Nintendo, Sega, SNK and now Sony can do it: Why can't Philips release a CD-i Classic? Their official answer was:

"Thank you very much for reminding us of the Philips CD-i! We appreciate the thought of a smaller, classic version of one of our legacy devices. :) We will try our best to fulfil your dreams and release something you suggest, but cannot promise anything yet. Please be a bit patient and stay tuned. Thank you in advance. " (@PhilipsCare)"

After almost 8 months, we asked Philips again about the possibility of something happening around a "Philips CD-i Mini / Classic". Unfortunately, as you might have expected, a mini version of a CD-i is not in the pipeline:

"As much as we wish we could bring different news — there's nothing we're currently aware of. We'd recommend keeping tabs on our social media channels, as all updates will be on there. Thank you!"

Although the door isn't completely closed, it seems clear that Philips is not planning to do anything with a miniature version of our beloved CD-i. Perhaps the VideoPac or Odyssey community has a bigger chance of success :)
