it's #cdiday so let's check out this little piece of CD-i history, the making of Burn:Cycle on CD-i - one of the best valued cyberpunk adventure on Philips CD-i. Burn:cycle is a base-case CD-i title while still showing full motion video, that is quite an accomplishment. The graphics look amazing on CD-i but TripMedia seriously considered to make this title a 'Digital Video on CD-i' game. Reasons not to were decided together with Philips who funded the whole project. In order to make this CD-i project profitable, it was required to reach a public as wide as possible and with the Digital Video Cartridge being released less than a year before the release of Burn:Cycle it was quite limiting the amount of people who would be interested in this game. Moreover, Philips was granted the exclusive rights to publish this game on CD-ROM as well and TripMedia was having trouble making a version that was easy to convert to other platforms as well.

Finally, a rare CD-i advertisement of Burn:Cycle:
