With the recent releases of the remastered versions of Link: Faces of Evil and Zelda: Wand of Gamelon, developer Dopply has shown he is more than capable of remastering these classic CD-i games into very smooth and beautifully recreated PC versions. Now, with the recent version 1.2 being released, Dopply is focusing on a new project. Dopply:"My next project, an all-original spiritual successor to Faces of Evil and Wand of Gamelon that I am calling "Project RZ" for now. The project is still early goings but I will let you all know when I have something more substantial to share." - With the expertise of Dopply this could actually become a pretty big thing online: The Nintendo on CD-i games have always been quite popular, both for Youtube creators as well as Link/Zelda enthusiasts. While they have received a lot of criticism, they are also quite beloved, both in the CD-i Community as in the broader retro community. A spiritual successor, if done right, would be awesome to many people.

Dopply continues: "I am not ready to talk about the plot in detail yet, but I will let you know this: it takes place 15 years after an evil monster was captured in a book by a brave Princess,  there will be cutscenes included, I'm going to only use some elements from the Remaster Engine. It will be much better, especially in regards to controller support. I will confirm that characters will return, but I will use slightly adjusted designs and new names."

"RZ isn't an acronym. It's more of a stand in phonetically for the new main character's name, a stand in for a Princess. As of now, the player will not be returning to either Gamelon or Koridai (they will have different names). However, you will see plenty of familiar faces (but with, at the moment, before I can get the legwork done, different names). At this time, I have the main plot outline done, all of the characters done, worlds, etc. I've been writing it for a few months now, and gathering from game design ideas I've had for...a while now."

Dopply expects to show more of his spiritual successor by the end of the year.

[Thanks, Dopply]
