In a few promotional folders and magazines Philips showed a picture of this joystick. It already had a price and a part number, but in the end this joystick remained unreleased. Eventually, the only true joystick on CD-i was the Tecno Plus Joystick. Philips hinted at more designs in some technical documentation as well, but for some reason they never brought it into production. Joysticks used to be more popular as gaming peripherals in the eighties and nineties. We believe CD-i shooters like Chaos Control and Solar Crusade work pretty well to control with a joystick like this.
Tecno Plus was the only company who released a true joystick for the CD-i. It is based on other models that third party developer released on other platforms including SNES and Mega Drive versions, but this one is truely dedicated to the Philips CD-i platform. I've never seen it here in The Netherlands, so I'm not sure in which countries this was released officially. Tecno Plus also released a licensed version of the Philips Gamepad, but this is, as far as we know, their own design and concept. It is remarkable that Philips at that time never released a joystick like the one above themselves.
