In UK, the company Two-Can Publishing is well known for creating the "Make it Work!" series of books: There are quite some editions focusing on a specific subject within the world of science, including: Machines, Building, Insects, Flight, Japan, Egypt, Sound and many others. One of them is about Electricity:
In 1993, Two-Can Publishing saw the opportunity to reach a wider audience by converting this series into digital interactive editions. Philips was heavily investing in several educational projects to boost their new CD-i platform. In their 'School 2000' project, several companies were contracted to build learning titles on CD-i that could be used in schools. The Epic Interactive Media Company was contracted to create the first two editions on CD-i: Shipwreck, which was based on the theme 'Electricity' and Soundtrap, which was based on the theme 'Sound', also available in the series "Make it Work!"
In this way, the content is already secured as Two-Can Publishing had lots of images, text and other material readily available. Converting book content to the interactive CD-i format was quite easy this way, once you have built a software engine around it. In this way, The Epic Interactive Media Company used the same CD-i engine for both titles.
The Epic Interactive Media Company also produced Thumbelina on CD-i, but that was their last CD-i effort. One other Windows game is known that they made in 1996: Drowned God, Conspiracy of the Ages. After that the company ceased to exist.
So their second project was Soundtrap, based on the book Make it Work! Sound:
