The Magnavox CD-i 550 player had an integrated DVC, a black DVC identification badge and it also existed as a (rare) Philips CD-i 550 player

The Philips CD-i 450 was a popular CD-i player released in 1994. It was the first 'budget' CD-i player with a lower price and a different design, following more the design of competitor games consoles. At that time, Philips realized they should push the CD-i more towards gaming as this was the most profitable part of the whole CD-i library. The CD-i 450 was marketed in the USA as the CD-i 550 under the brandname Magnavox, with integrated Digital Video Cartridge and a black DVC identification badge on the cover of the DVC. This badge means that a DVC is inside. I have never seen this in Europe, but CD-i member Retrostuff discovered there's actually also a Philips CD-i 550 player, also with the black DVC identification badge and integrated DVC.

Retrostuff: "The CD-i 550 is actually a CD-i 450 with preinstalled DVC and a black “Digital Video Cartridge identification badge” on the cover. If you ever wondered why there are two holes in the DVC cover – this is where you mount the badge."

[Thanks, Retrostuff, DavidC, Alan]
